This is why you don't drive like a moron in snow

Or ever. But especially in snow. I’m not saying you should drive 11 miles an hour down the middle of two lanes, because then you’ll drive my blood pressure up and make me more likely to speed and crash. Still, it’s better than flying around a turn trying to make a yellow light and winding up out of control, like this guy did. Sorry for my dumb commentary.

This is why you practice learning to control a fishtail in a safe environment, like a parking lot, so when it happens on a road you don’t make a fool of yourself.

The most dangerous car on the road in the winter is anything that looks like a beater. Not only does the owner not care about the overall car, they probably have crappy tires as well.

O-town was ridiculous today. What normally took 30 minutes was a 2 hour trip today.

That’s what all my friends were saying. My 5 minute commute this morning was lengthened to around 12min.

If you could avoid the main streets it wasn’t to bad. Dodge, Center, and the other major ways were moving really slow.

Too fast for conditions.

I only used Dodge for a little bit. My house is off center so that was unavoidable.

Sadly I had to be at 90th and Dodge and then around 120th and Dodge this morning. Long day but no bent fenders or near misses so I really shouldn’t complain, even though I have been.

Yeah, I’m inclined to believe that wasn’t one of those “the person survived major injuries miraclously despite being drunk and/or the insanity of the wreck”.

I will admit, I’ve done my share of idiot winter driving but did so on back roads and parking lots where no one was around.

My only incident: There was a 90 degree turn onto a secluded highway on ramp and a snowy day. I thought - hm, I’ve got a sick AWD system - I bet I could drift that. About halfway through, I realize I wasn’t paying enough attention and opposite lock has turned into ass going the face direction. I still have momentum (and plenty of room) so I pulled the handbrake then hammered the throttle and completed a full 360 as if that’s what I intended in the first place. Then of course I looked around to make sure no one saw that ;)

Step 1: Buy winter beater.

Step 2: Watch the seas part before you.

Step 3: Profit.
